Our client are specialists in their market sector, they are looking to recruit a Health, Safety, Environment, Security & Facilities Manager who will be responsible for the health & safety at their Peterlee facility.
The Job you’ll do
Promote Company values and support the continual development of the positive safety focused culture.
Overall responsibility for the HSE management systems and the UKAS accredited ISO 14001 certification.
Have extensive knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices, and evaluate compliance with legal and other requirements.
Keep up to date with any changes in HSE legislation and any developments that may affect the business.
Making changes to working practices where there are gaps in compliance with legal requirements or best practices.
Communicate and engage with all stakeholders to ensure the effective continual improvement of HSE performance, include producing management reports, safety notices and bulletins
Carry out risk assessments and guide risk owners on effective risk management.
Outline safe operating procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and maintained.
Work closely with the Directors to prepare strategies and develop internal policy that deliver HSE objectives.
Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks.
Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
Record statutory and other HSE KPI data and produce statistics for the senior management team.
Ensure the safe installation of equipment.
Responsible for the safe, legal, and efficient disposal of all waste streams, including hazardous wastes, working with the Purchasing Manager where waste can be monetised.
Advise on a range of specialist areas e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
Overall responsibility and authority for the maintenance of the EMS.
Continuous improvement and communication/awareness to drive culture for environmental awareness to all staff (especially shopfloor staff).
About You
Have achieved a NEBOSH Diploma, or have achieved a NEBOSH national certificate and be willing to work towards a Diploma.
Must be an accredited ISO 14001 auditor.
Be able to make risk-based decisions and deliver reasonable and proportionate controls.
Have had 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within an engineering or production environment.
You must be computer literate with a very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
You will have very good English skills (both oral and written) and be comfortable presenting to a group of staff.
You must have knowledge of problem solving / process improvement tools and techniques.
