We are proudly representing our public sector client based in Newcastle City Centre. They are currently looking for a Communications Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. If you are interested and meet the person specification of the job role, please apply below.

The Job you will be doing

  • Take an active role in developing digital communications, delivering engaging content

  • Plan, write, edit and review communication and marketing materials including for blogs, reports, editorial, social media and advertisements used across the clients channels

  • Engage in forward planning and working with the team, partners and stakeholders to identify communications opportunities which maximise the organisation's impact

  • Oversee the production process for reports including the proofing, design, approval and publication

  • Monitor and evaluate communications activity and produce reports suitable for senior management team, partners and stakeholders

  • Liaise with third party suppliers to ensure commissioned work is completed to the right standard, on time and in budget

  • Support media relations activities

  • Produce and manage a regular newsletter and manage a bulk email system ensuring GDPR is properly applied

  • Manage the company website ensuring it is up to date and accurate, and troubleshoot any issues with technical support service

  • Keep up to date with new developments in the communications industry

  • Undertake any other communications team duties as directed by the Head of Communications

About You

  • Experience of developing and delivering multi-platform communications campaigns/strategies

  • Experience of planning and delivering social media campaigns including producing creative content, using appropriate methods of digital engagement, targeting audiences and continuous development of these skills

  • The ability to write clear, concise and accurate copy for a range of channels including websites, press releases, publications and social media

  • Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills, together with an ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines

  • Experience of operating standard IT packages including Microsoft Office, content management systems and social media management/listening systems

  • Ability to brief and monitor third party contractors

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards in digital and print formats

  • Knowledge and experience of using analytical and data gathering tools to improve customer experience and the effectiveness of digital content and campaigns

  • Experience of using Mailchimp and Wordpress is desirable but not essential

  • Experience of laying out reports using templates

  • Experience of google analytics

  • Proofreading skills with an excellent grasp of grammar
